This is a part of a story I started about three years ago that kinda died. But I'll post it anyway, whatever.
Hell, he was going insane.
Why you ask? It was a simple matter of his history partner.
Not that she was bothering him directly in any way. Not at all. She had taken the assignment with a quick explanation that she was looking it over to see what could be divided between them and such. Personally, he was grateful; he was always useless at project planning anyway.
And it wasn’t that the girl herself bothered him. She was a Wiccan, perfectly acceptable to be associated with, as opposed to a Fairy or, the horror of all horrors, an Angel.
No, his problem was the fact that she smelled so…deliciously mouthwatering…and he couldn’t, for the life of him, figure out what the scent was.
He stared at her, hunched over the little sheet of white paper, occasionally writing something or muttering to herself. He had a feeling that he did know what it was that she smelled like, he just couldn’t remember. While he was frantically trying to figure the mystery out, he took a closer look at the girl. She had dark red hair that was parted on the left side, so that she was constantly tucking one piece of her hair behind her ear, only to have it fall right back into her pale face a moment later. Her skin was ivory, not a freckle or blemish to be found, and she had the purest green eyes he had ever seen.
After this rather embarrassing and horribly cliché discovery, he realized that she was looking at him expectantly, as if waiting for him to answer.
“Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention.” He apologized quickly. He had always found that it was important to be polite to the people who would hopefully help him pass this wretched class. “What did you say?”
“I asked you what your name was.” She replied clearly, a hint of a smile creeping onto her face.
“Oh…Alex.” He replied, feeling like an idiot.
“I’m Jenny.” She offered, extending her hand towards him. He hesitated before shaking it, noting that she didn’t flinch at his slightly hotter than normal skin.
“So, how much do you know about the topic?” she asked, her tone business like.
He blinked dumbly for a moment before admitting, “I wasn’t actually paying attention to Professor Draco when he explained the assignment.”
“I see…” she said, with a tiny giggle. “And what were you doing instead?”
In truth, it was during the explanation that he had been hit by the nameless and incredible smell. He had spent the remaining ten minutes of the professor’s speech attempting to locate the source, only to find, when the professor declared that they use the rest of class to discuss the project with each other, that the source was his partner.
“Nevermind.” She said, saving him further embarrassment, for which he was grateful. Glancing down at her notes, and then at her watch, she paled even further, silently mouthing a curse.
“You okay?” Alex asked, concerned for some unknown reason.
“Uh…” she said distractedly as she shoved various things into her bag. “Yeah, yeah I’m…I’m fine I just…I just have to be somewhere right now and I totally forgot about it and now they’re gonna be pissed…” she finished shoving everything in reach into her bag
